1. What do you love most about your work?

What I love about graphic design is how all the different design elements—text, images, fonts, colors, and graphics—combine to communicate a message. We are all bombarded with messages all day from multiple sources. The marketer has the job of breaking through the noise and communicating the client’s message. So, using all the design elements in combination to effectively communicate the marketing message is very rewarding.

2. Why are you so awesome at your job? :)

I am awesome at my job because I love design and I am always willing to learn something new. Also, I have great attention to detail. Good design considers every detail and how it matters to the overall message. I like to say the design is in the details.

3. What was your favorite client project and why?

One of my favorite projects was a design rebrand that I did for a statistical research company. I enjoyed coming up with a logo that communicated the company’s brand. Then I outlined how to use the logo and the other brand elements in their marketing materials. Another project that I’ve worked on every year for the last few years is a book of legal articles. The book has the same title every year, so I like having to challenge myself to come up with a new take on the theme each year.  

4. What do you think are the top ingredients for a successful team?

I think a successful team is made up of members with diverse talents. Each member has something to contribute to the project. It is very important that all the team members respect each other and appreciate what each member brings to the table. It is also important that the team members are committed to working together to achieve a successful project.

5. Is there anything else you’d like to share? Special recognition, awards, hobbies?

Playing tennis is my favorite pastime when I am not working. I also enjoy watching other sports, traveling when I can, and I am trying to learn to play the piano.
